CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Swimming, Waterfront/Aquatics, Adventure, Travel, Wilderness/Nature, and more. Rowing
CAMP LOCATION: We are located at the Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol, RI.
CAMP FACILITIES: Our facility is on a beautiful waterfront property. Most activity takes place in Dharma Voyage’s custom sliding-seat rigged 32 foot long Pilot Gig, the Voyager. This is big-boat ocean rowing, where 6 rowers move together as one crew across the waves.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This 6 day course is a progressive, rigorous and thorough introduction to ocean rowing and expedition skills, complete with a multi-day coastal adventure aboard this remarkable boat. Three days of intensive training at the Herreshoff Marine Museum familiarizes us with the boat, brings us together as a crew, and prepares us individually by enhancing awareness in mind, body, and nature. We then cast off from Bristol for 3 days and 2 nights of voyaging and camping along the varied shores, islands, currents and waves of coastal Rhode Island– engaging our teamwork, seamanship, endurance and adaptability, as we experience the freedom and joy of moving across the water under our own power.
