Each one offers campers a unique experience based on its environment, Jewish programming, and size. “Jewish camp†is anything but a monolithic term and lest one have the idea that Jewish camp connotes hours of studying the Torah or daily Hebrew lessons, this could not be further from the truth.
There’s swimming, sports, arts and crafts, singing, and campfires. Everything you’d expect from a fun and enriching summer experience. And if your child has specific interests, there are now even “speciality camps†located across the country that focus on everything from science and technology to the arts, all with a Jewish focus.
And kids don’t need to go to overnight camp to have an impactful and fun summer experience. In the Philadelphia area alone are 8 day camps with a variety of programs to suit children at almost every age, pre-K through teens.
For all of these summer experience, Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia offers need-based scholarships that cover between 10% and 30% of the cost of camp, working to ensure that camp remains a viable option for families of all financial backgrounds. Ask many Jewish adults what was a defining part of their childhood and many of them will say “summer camp.†It’s the perfect place for a child to connect to their identity and culture, while having an amazing summer that they will want to tell all their friends about.

Our Mission
Children are our Mission
Our mission is to provide the ideal environment and a unique opportunity for children to learn valuable skills and make new friends through programs that are challenging, educational, and fun. We believe camp provides an opportunity for personal growth, increased self-esteem, building of physical fitness, and friendship. We hope to create a space for young people to learn how to work as a group while gaining confidence in their unique abilities as individuals...
Our Camp Philosophy: Camp is a special place. Campers grow and learn about themselves, try new things, discover hidden talents and reach out without the fear of negative criticism. Leaders in the field of child development recognize the value of camp in providing the acknowledged needs of today’s children. The camp experience is designed to help children mature socially, emotionally, intellectually, and morally.
Camp is a structured environment where children can live, play, and work with positive role models who listen, talk, relax, and reflect. It is through the fun and challenging activities that campers learn to work together, make choices, take responsibility, develop creative thinking skills, and gain confidence-building independence and self-reliance. All are necessary steps on a child’s path to a healthy and productive day.
Camp Fit & Fun’s goal is to provide children with an exciting, diversified and wholesome camping experience. This is accomplished through a large, flexible program that is structured and well supervised. We believe youth should have a taste of different activities, some of which they will enjoy greatly, while others may be remembered and re-explored when they are older. We feel it is essential to blend wholesome, challenging and cultural programs into the day.
Camp is like a family. Family values are the catalyst or the glue from which the daily life of Camp Fit & Fun is built. We have established rules for safety and respect for all members of the Camp Fit & Fun Community. We help members build an arsenal of tools to aid in working through conflict, commitment, confidence, goal setting, the giving of love and discipline and consistency. Camp Fit & Fun is a family.

Our Easy treks are extremely easy in terms of daily mileage and terrain and will attract slower riders. For our Challenging treks you need to be in good shape and enjoy bicycling. We have had many first time riders do challenging treks and this is for those eager for a challenge.
Any teenager can enjoy one of our summer bike trips. We love a good challenge and we encourage teens to be ambitious, but we keep things fun, too – there’s always time to stop for ice cream, enjoy the scenery, or check out an awesome local restaurant or historical site.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Keep your kids physically active and creatively engaged with Summer Half or Full Day Performing Arts Programs and Intermediate/Advanced Intensives. There is an informal studio showing at the end of each week. Creative Movement classes for ages 2.5-4 are also available.
Creative Movement (2.5-4 years old): This program is designed to cultivate the joy for ballet in our youngest dancers while introducing them to the format of a dance class. The use of music, props, and imagination keeps students engaged while they learn basic ballet vocabulary.
Half Day Performing Arts (4-6 years old): This half day program explores ballet, theater dance, and voice with a structured but developmentally-appropriate approach.
Full Day Performing Arts (6-10 years old): This full day program's curriculum includes a Pilates-based stretch and strengthening class, ballet, theater dance, voice, contemporary, and a student-inspired choreography class. This program is a great way for beginner and intermediate dancers to learn and polish basic technique as well as explore new genres.
Intermediate Intensive (8-13 years old): This program is designed for serious intermediate young dancers. Students train nearly 30 hours per week. They will have Pilates and a two-hour ballet technique class each morning. In addition, they will be introduced to various other genres including contemporary and theater. Students will study ballet terminology and learn and rehearse choreography that will culminate in an in-studio performance at the end of the program. This program is an excellent opportunity for intermediate students to refine their technique and develop strength.
Intermediate/Advanced Intensive (13+ years old): This intensive is designed so intermediate and advanced dancers can really examine and perfect their ballet technique while they also explore their versatility as artists. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Active Learning Services, Ltd operates enrichment programs designed to stimulate creative thinking, improve thinking, logic and memory skills and give children "thinking alternatives" to sports camps and other summer programs. Our programs include chess programs and camps thru USA Chess, Our Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Programs and our Active Learning Computer Enrichment Programs.
Our staff is, comprised of the best children's chess instructors in North America! The USA Chess camps are uniquely qualified to cater to the needs of the advanced scholastic player as well as the true beginner. USA Chess hit its first milestone in the summer of 2000 producing the largest chess camp ever held in the United States, with more than 250 students enrolled. What was most surprising, however, was the amount of absolute beginners in attendance - more than 50% of the total enrollment was just starting to play chess. This realization led to the national rollout tour of 100 camps in more than 70 cities. The annual tours have been immensely successful with several thousand campers attending this year alone.
USA Chess thrives on providing a structured environment that is extremely conducive to learning chess. We handpick the best children's chess instructors from all over the United States and bring them to each camp. We believe our team is most effective in teaching chess to children of all ages and levels. The exceptional organization and ever-fun curriculum has fueled much interest from scholastic players and coaches from around the country, prompting them to request USA Chess camps in their areas.
At the same summer camp locations, we also offer the immensely popular Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Camps, The Active Learning Computer Animation Programs, and other Computer Enrichment Programs such as Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft. We now offer seven unique programs in all.
At these camps, children are assigned a computer for the week; they spend the week learning to create their own one-of- a- kind video games in our Gamebuilder Camps, Animation Projects in our Animation Camps, also Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft.
