CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Since 1979, Skyhawks sports has led safe, fun and skill-focused sports camps and programs for youth between the ages of 3-12.
We offer many different different sports--and countless ways for your child to grow. The camps range from soccer to baseball to our popular mulit-sport camps where kids sample three different sports (soccer, basketball and baseball) in one camp.
Our camps and programs are offered locally throughout over 500 communities. The format includes traditional week-long summer day camps and year-round after-school programs that range from 45 minutes to 6 hours in duration, per day. Our progression of camps and programs, led by our expert staff, are generated toward youth looking for a sport introduction or those who want to refine and master their sport-specific skills.
For Detailed Information on ALL of our summer sports camps, please visit our website at Our Camp Website Link: www.skyhawks.com.
Our coaches and site directors make a significant difference to your child's on-field experience. Chosen for their strong personal character, responsibility, and capacity to effectively communicate sports skills to youth, our staff will make the extra effort every time to ensure that your children have the best on-field/court experience, emphasize teamwork, and learn life skills through sports. Our staff are required to complete our extensive certification process.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: We offer financial aid for those families that qualify. Please call 1.800.804.3509 for an application.
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We offer year round programs in select states, please see our website for complete information on all Skyhawks Sport Camps in your area.
OTHER CAMP INFO: Skyhawks Sports Camps are SAFETY FOCUSED!
At Skyhawks we go the extra mile to focus on safety, and we have a long-standing proven safety track record and processes to prove it. For example, all Skyhawks Sports camps start and end with our unique safety process called "Gate System and Parking Lot Duty." This process is where coaches come and greet both parents and campers in the parking lot when parents pull up to drop off their children.
Our staff guide the kids onto the field/court and out of harm's way by funneling them into our gate system. Eye contact is maintained from each one of our staff members until the kids make it onto the field/court where they are grouped by age. This efficient process ensures safety. Additionally, it develops a level of trust between parent, coach, and child that ultimately leads to a fun and skill-focused camp for youth.

CAMPER AGES: 7 - 17
TYPE OF CAMP: Overnight/Sleepaway. Overnight and wilderness adventure.
CAMPER GENDER(S): Coed Campers.
BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Camp Lookout is an overnight co-ed summer camp which is not just about fun activities (although we have those too), it’s about building meaningful and unique social relationships. We use a combination of free time, intentional programming, and activities to add additional opportunities for growth among our campers. Instead of movie nights, electronic games or motorized sports, campers and staff work together to create imaginative games, sports and special events. We focus on activities which foster active, individual participation and group involvement.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Theater, Fine Arts/Crafts, Soccer, Horses/Equestrian, Swimming, Waterfront/Aquatics, Sailing, Volleyball, Team Sports, Adventure, Travel, Wilderness/Nature, and more. Co-ed & Non-competitive. Community Focused, Inclusive & Social.
CAMP LOCATION: Camp Lookout is located six miles south of Frankfort, MI. We are approximately 250 miles from Detroit and 300 miles from Chicago in the popular vacation area of Northwest lower Michigan about 35 miles west of Traverse City, MI.
CAMP FACILITIES: The camp itself is on a heavily wooded, hilly peninsula bounded by Lower Herring Lake and Lake Michigan. Water activities take place in both lakes. There is no vehicle access to the camp; access for campers is by pontoon boat from our parking lot on the north shore.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Days at camp vary as widely as the creativity and imagination of campers and staff allow. In each of three daily program meetings (after breakfast, after rest hour and after dinner), campers and staff decide what activities will be offered.
Activities during either the morning or afternoon could be focused on a specific skill instruction (sailing, kayaking, canoeing, horseback riding, swimming, mountain biking, art, sports skills, or similar activities) or may be a bit more flexible and subject to the spontaneity of the camp community (creating a large outdoor sculpture, organizing a theme meal, working on a creative writing project, designing and building a fort in the woods, organizing a talent night, or rehearsing a play). Evenings tend toward larger group activities including games such as Capture the Flag, Windego Island, talent night, fantasy night, or a campfire. Or, there may be 2 or 3 choices ranging from very active games to quieter, smaller group activities.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Financial aid is available. Contact us for details.
OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp Lookout was established in 1917 and is still providing campers with fantastic experiences and a world of adventure. Through our unique programming and culture, the camp experience stokes the creative fire within each camper and fosters positive relationships.

By consistently winning large numbers of national level awards in art competitions, Ichen Art Academy students’ skill levels and artworks are among the best in every age group.

We recognize the benefits of sports participation for youth. We work with athletes of all levels. Our priority is to get children involved in physical activity and to help alleviate the ‘couch potato’ mentality that many young people are faced with. CAMP FACILITIES: We offer modern cabins, tipis, and opportunities for kids to sleep under the stars. We are on the shores of the beautiful Lake Huron, a Michigan great lake!
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: There’s a community “up north” carved from ice cold glacial melt water many, many years ago, nestled with lush forest over which gulls and herons soar. It rests on the sandy beaches of a most wondrous, great lake.
A community of safe places; Girls, boys, and co-ed summer camps for kids, protected just for children by guardians who never forgot what it was like, once upon a time, to be children themselves. Two camps, just 6 miles apart, denoted by their sounds—waves lapping on the shore, warm summer breezes blowing across crackling campfires—and everywhere, the undercurrent of children’s laughter punctuated, now and then, by shouts of glee and wonder.
A changeless constant in the lives of those lucky few of us who’ve come to grow up, here, through the generations. This is a place where the days are almost timeless, but for the extra-special moments to grow in our Catholic faith for over sixty seven summers now.
When night comes, we’ll tuck ourselves in under warm blankets and count the billion stars or so that light up the sky. Or we’ll sneak a flashlight under the covers to finish a good story or recall the days’ events with new friends. When it storms, we’ll throw open the windows to smell the fresh rain and listen for the raindrops pelting the lush forest leaves.
Picture For boys and girls of those magical ages of 7-16, these are places to take your aim at the archery range, challenge your limits on the high ropes course, and build creativity through arts; of open-air cabins, floating in kayaks, and the timeless treasure of campouts. It’s the simple and lasting pleasures that teach us the appreciation for others, nature, and to feel the presence of God.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Camp counselors and seasonal staff members are the heart and soul of our camps; Working with and living in a camp comunity where children see, hear, and imitate everything we do 24/7! All staff must provide a high level of energy and enthusiasm in cabins and in activity areas, and be dedicated to the "organized chaos" of camp life.
We are seeking individuals who posess a genuine love for children and exude the highest standards of spiritual maturity and moral conduct. Staff that meet these demands will find the work extremely rewarding - No, life chaging! We expect either a four or six-week committment depending on which of our camps you will be working at this summer. This committment includes a one-week, paid, staff training session.
