CAMP FACILITIES: We have an outdoor Rec Area with a full basketball court, dining hall, outdoor stage with bleacher seating, 15 rustic cabins, modern bath house, 100 acres of woodland areas with trails for exploring, streams for critter catching, open areas for orienteering and all camp games.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Van Buren Youth Camp has been known since 1950 for its successful residential summer camp programs for children and teens. These programs are designed to develop the leadership abilities of today’s youth — encouraging personal growth, self-confidence, positive relationships, and individual and group responsibility.

All staff are certified in CPR/AED/First Aid and properly certified/trained for their specific area of responsibility. They have gone through extensive training in child development, camp safety, recreational games, team building and magic making. All Program staff must be at least 18 years old. Cabin Counselors are volunteers from our Leadership Workshop (or have counseled for us in the past). Both groups must go through an application and interview process, provide letters of recommendation/references and clear required background checks.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Leadership Workshop is a one of a kind amazing program! Our high school age campers volunteer to assist with the planning of the week each year. From selecting the theme, to developing topics for General Sessions and Clinics, to recruiting the speakers to present this information to the group...they are involved in every aspect of the program development. There are no cabin counselors at Leadership Workshop...the campers select a different "Counselor of the Day" who will take on additional responsibilities and meet with the Leadership Counsel. The week is designed to see how far we can stretch them outside of their comfort zone while trying to foster a sense of community responsibility. To Lead Is To Serve is our "motto" but the theme of the week each year is different. This is the first session offered each year and where we recruit our volunteer Cabin Counselors

We also offer a CIT opportunity. Counselors In Training volunteer alongside a Cabin Counselor for the majority of the week. On the last day of the session, the CIT will take over the leadership of the cabin to get a real taste of making the decisions and coaching the group through the daily schedule.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): The last weekend of September each year is Women's Wellness Weekend (W3). This event is designed for women to come together in a nurturing environment where we do all the cooking and cleaning! We also provide wellness sessions/professionals, yoga, massages ($), manicures/pedicures/facials, craft classes, hiking, biking, and bird watching. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Total Sports Complex (TSC) in Wixom is now offering week-long summer camps all summer long! TSC provides a fun, safe and stimulating sports arena with counselors who are well trained in child care and entertainment.

TSC Wixom Summer Fun Camps give children the opportunity to play fun physical activities such as soccer, baseball, flag football, etc. as well as educational games, arts and crafts, even science experiments! Camp will be packed with outdoor activities, indoor games, and Friday fun-day with pizza party and water sports included – so be sure to bring a bathing suit. No need to worry about the weather, TSC Wixom has multiple indoor and outdoor turf fields so games will go on, rain or shine. Athletes will spend the first hour on individual fundamental skill work like shooting, ball handling, passing and defensive footwork in our skill stations. Every year talented players attend our camps and challenge each other to the limit, growing in skill and experience. A number of our campers have experienced training trials with professional clubs in Holland. Our programs are designed to help players achieve their maximum potential through progressive exercises that are individually challenging, as well as appropriate to the age and ability of each player.

We fly in our coaches directly from the Netherlands. They are not merely coaches: they are also teachers. Many of our coaches have graduated from a four- year CIOS College. At the Central Institution of Sports, coaches not only received their coaching licenses from the global leader in soccer development: KNVB (Royal Dutch Soccer Federation) but also learn how to work with, encourage and incentivize young athletes. Every camp group will have the same Dutch coach for the entire week. CAMP FACILITIES: Featuring a complete Fieldturf™ field, the enclosed practice and playing area provides year-round training and development opportunities. Oosterbaan Field House, constructed in 1980, features two endline filming stations, a climate-controlled playing/spectating environment and sideline seating for 500 people. The building is joined to Schembechler Hall which houses state-of-the-art athletic training and weight rooms.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: University of Michigan Women's Soccer coaches - former US National Team Coach, Greg Ryan, and former US U18 National Team Coach and assistant U-23 National Team Coach, Dean Duerst - serve as Camp Directors. They have recruited a top level staff to provide a premier soccer camp experience for girls in the Midwest. Assistant coach Angie Napoli provides elite goalkeeper training including basic and advanced ball handling, footwork in the goal, clasp diving, aspect of flank play, and aspect of breakaways.

CAMP FACILITIES: With four facilities to choose from, we have the right place for your retreat, outdoor education experience, band camp, sports practice camp, family reunion, leadership training…the list goes on! We offer accommodations for up to 80 people year-round and any of our camps can sleep close to, if not more than 200 people from early spring to late fall.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Ozanam and Camp Stapleton are owned and operated by St. Vincent de Paul, an independent Catholic lay organization, which responds to the needs of the poor of all creeds and ethnic backgrounds. Since 1923, thanks to our volunteers and donor support, our camping program has allowed over 100,000 disadvantaged youngsters the opportunity to enjoy a fully funded camping experience along the shores of Lake Huron.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Camp Ozanam has 34 Acres to explore and use for your next event. Cabins available for rent include electricity, water, modern toilets, and showers. Guests can fish and swim on-site, as well as enjoy our volleyball court, ball fields, and nature trails. Fully catered food service is available in our dining hall.

CAMP FACILITIES: One in-person camp will be held at the Georgetown Public Library in July 2025, located in Sussex County, DE.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Beginner coding skills are taught helping children learn sequencing and terms that grown up coders use everyday to create video games and more. Math and Science activities engage your child in learning and our ARTS program helps students understand how computer artists work in the field.

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers work out at one of two Olympic-Caliber facilities. Indoors, they train at the Biermann Center- which boasts the World’s Widest Indoor 200m Track and the same Mondo surface that was used in the 2012 London Olympic Games. Outdoors, they train at the Herrick Track- which features the same Mondo surface that was used in the 2000 Sydney/2004 Athens Olympic Games.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Road Less Traveled as an organization was founded by Jim and Donna Stein in 1991, and has been successfully running safe, exciting, life-changing trips for teens ever since. Both Jim and Donna are still the current directors, and are integrally involved in every single aspect of the company. In the summer, they are on call 24/7, available both to parents as well as to our leaders in the field.

We are an ACA accredited organization with an impeccable track record. We believe in the process of accreditation. It allows us to compare our standards to other professionals in the industry. Our accreditation allows us to follow specific standards related to leader screening including use of application forms, reference checks, personal interviews, work history review, and background checks.

Many years ago, we were the first company serving young adults to require that all leaders have a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) medical certification. WFR training is far more advanced than standard first aid or wilderness first aid. In addition to this certification, we carry extensive first aid kits on all of our programs that include antibiotics and epinephrine. Contents, protocols, and standing orders are reviewed and updated every year by our Medical Director who is an MD.

Since our inception, RLT has been on the cutting edge of technological advances in communication. We began carrying Iridium satellite phones on all of our programs as soon as they were available. Today we continue to carry the latest in emergency communication systems. According to geographic location, programs are equipped with satellite phones, ground-to-air radios, and/or cellular phones providing the possibility of 24-hour access to medical help in case of emergency.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Trip Leader/Co-Leader

Travel domestically and/or internationally with a group of high-school and/or middle-school students, monitoring and facilitating community service, language/cultural immersion, and/or wilderness adventure trips

Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of 21 years of age
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree or in the process of completing a degree. Equivalent experience working with teenagers in related field will be considered if not currently enrolled in school
• Experience Previous program leader experience working with and or teaching young people age ranging in age between 12-19. Knowledge of and experience with group dynamics, teaching or facilitating groups, supervision of meal planning, food preparation and cooking, managing logistics. Ability to teach program specific skills, environmental awareness, and related scientific, cultural, and historical knowledge pertaining to the regions through which you will travel and their relationship to each other.
• Strong Physical Condition
• Current CPR for the professional rescuer
• Current Wilderness First Responder, WEMT or EMT certification
• Current Red Cross lifeguard or Swiftwater rescue certifications preferred but not mandatory
• Current unrestricted valid drivers license with no major convictions during the previous three year period; driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving, hit and run, homicide or assault with a motor vehicle, drag racing, operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent, license suspended or revoked within the previous three year period for accidents and or moving violations. Driving record should reflect no more than three moving violations and/or chargeable accidents during the previous three years

• For Adventure Programs: Knowledge of three or more wilderness travel methods. Whitewater rafting, sea kayaking, international trekking, biking, backpacking, technical rock or ice climbing and mountaineering. Mandatory requirements for adventure trips include: the ability to lead groups of students on backpacking trips of three to eight days, ability to comfortably lead through remote wilderness areas. This includes, but is not limited to, backpacking preparations, backcountry travel, route finding, campsite selection, equipment maintenance, Leave No Trace camping techniques in desert and alpine terrain and proper protocol in dense bear country.

All leaders must possess the ability to make prudent decisions in adverse conditions. International Service Learning and Language Immersion Programs: Leaders and must be highly proficient or fluent in the spoken language of the program country (Spanish, etc.) and have extensive experience with community service, international travel, managing multiple responsibilities abroad, experience and/or living abroad, cultural immersion. Knowledge of the following is helpful but not mandatory: Sea Kayaking, Whitewater Rafting, Trekking, Surfing, and Snorkeling

• International Service learning and Language Exposure Programs: Leaders to have extensive experience with community service, international travel, managing multiple responsibilities abroad, experience and/or living abroad, cultural immersion. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This summer camp is designed to create a love for the game in a fun and learning environment. We teach the fundamentals of basketball (dribbling, passing, shooting & man-to-man defense), as well as teamwork, basketball terminology and good sportsmanship through fun filled station drills, relays, skill enhancement games. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This camp is inspired by an older camp, Camp CAEN, that was very successful. It was stopped when it's director retired and now a new camp is reviving the same spirit that established Camp CAEN in the community. Recreational activities are planned to give campers a unique blend of the college experience, the University of Michigan campus, and a taste of Ann Arbor city. 1) Game Design & Development: July 10-14, 2017
This 5-day non-residential program is perfect for students who want to learn about the process of game design and start making their own games. We will work with everything from paper games to computer games in this in-depth introduction to the world of game development. Game design is a process that takes years to master; this intense, weeklong camp will start you down that road!

2) Bits and Chips and Drones!: July 10-21, 2017
This 10-day non-residential program will inspire students who are enthusiastic about computer science and who are eager to learn more about it in greater detail. Three areas in computer science will be explored:
-Robotics using Finch robots
-Building drones with programmable microcontrollers
-Mobile app development using MIT App Inventor
The program will feature introductions to each of the above areas. The majority of the time will be devoted to the campers creating their own projects using various technologies under the supervision of camp staff. Students will also go on a field trip to local software companies and participate in a demo day where they get to showcase all the interesting things they worked on during the program! Programming experience for this program is encouraged, but not required.t.

3) Tinkering with Mobile Apps 1: July 24-28, 2017
This 5-day commuter program is ideal for students who are curious about exploring the basics of computer science. Through engaging lectures and hands-on activities, students will be introduced to fundamental principles of computer science. They will be able to build their own working mobile app with MIT App Inventor. Students learn how to design user interfaces, work with graphics and sound, use sensors and databases to create a functional and interesting app. The final day of the program will feature a Design Expo where students get to show off all the cool apps they made! A field trip and daily recreational activities are planned, including campus tours and socials to give campers a taste of college.

4) Tinkering with Mobile Apps 2: July 31-Aug 4, 2017
Over 5 days, this commuter program will extend skills and knowledge gained from Tinkering with Mobile Apps I and show students the basics of building connected apps. These apps will use databases to request and exchange data, connect to other applications to share information and functionality, use web API (Application Programming Interfaces) to share and collect data to and from the internet, and investigate third-party extensions to explore a world of possibilities. The final day of the program will feature a Design Expo where students get to show off all the cool apps they made! A field trip and daily recreational activities are also planned.

CAMP FACILITIES: Appledore IV is an 85-ft schooner with space to accommodate 9 trainees and 7 crew members in individual bunks. Appledore V is a 65-ft schooner with space to accommodate 6 trainees and 4 crew members in individual bunks.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Windward Bound Sail Training program is licensed by the State of Michigan as a Summer Camp and meets all requirements to hold and maintain this license.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Limited scholarship funding may be available. Applicants will be asked to fill out an application and submit for approval.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: After the sailing season, Windward Bound graduates are asked to participate in various projects aboard Appledore IV and with BaySail, year-round. Active graduates may be asked to join the volunteer crew the following season.

OTHER CAMP INFO: iSG Camps is a division of the International Sporting Group based in Columbus, Ohio. The management of iSG Camps has been operating youth sports camps for over 19 years with a high rate of customer satisfaction. Camps are well organized and designed so that the designated professional athlete can easily come in and interact with youth participants.

We recognize the benefits of sports participation for youth. We work with athletes of all levels. Our priority is to get children involved in physical activity and to help alleviate the ‘couch potato’ mentality that many young people are faced with. For more athletic students, our goal is to help elevate them to the next level. Being involved in our program gives children a sense of belonging, achievement and success that they can then take with them and use in their everyday lives.

Over and above their impressive credentials, our staff bring a myriad of skills to Camp Zip. Their strengths include training and experience in special education, psychology, atheletics, cooking, vocational skills, life skills and recreation.

The foundation for the success of our programs at Camp Zip is the quality of our staff. Each of our programs have 3 to 1 staff ratio. The staff and volunteers are trained professionals - teachers, psychologist, social workers, speech pathologists or teaching assistants in adult programs or college students going into special education. AlphaStar Academy mainly considers teaching, competition, and education background as well as passion and dedication for the subject when hiring full-time and part-time teachers.

We hire our instructors and TAs from a pool of High School, College, Ph.D. students, school teachers, and University Professors. Our faculty have teaching/coaching/tutoring experience and have expertise in the subject area, regardless of their age.

They have participation and/or training experience in national/international math competitions and Olympiads in Math, CS, and Physics such as USAMO, USACO, USAPhO, IMO, IOI, and IPhO.

In 2021, up to $40,000 will be given as course credit. Each winner can use $2,000 course credit for online AlphaStar Math courses/camps for one year.
