CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Good Times offers a special program to certain campers over the age of 12. This program helps transition eager teen campers into responsible working adults. Gophers are assistants to their assigned counselors and in no way have responsibility over any camper. A few veteran Gophers will show extraordinary qualities and will be allowed to become camp interns. Many of Good Times best counselors were at one time campers themselves. How does a camper become a Gopher? The Gopher program is by invitation only. If selected, you will receive an invitation early in January from Director Peggy. YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: CYT Chicago offers high quality performing arts classes in 16 different locations across Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. With emphasis in drama, dance, musical theater, and vocal studies, any child ages 6-18 is sure to find a class that will pique their interest. Our classes are each 10 weeks long culminating with a showcase performance during the final week.

CYT Chicago also offers over 30 professional quality musical theater productions each year. Winter Break Camps
Our winter camps are designed to keep kids entertained while developing problem-solving and interpersonal skills. With obstacle course training, team-building missions, "target practice" hand-eye-coordination activities, and many other fun games, we guarantee a fun winter break. This camp is great for all kids, ages six and up.

Spring Break Camps
Still in town this Spring Break? Send your kids to our Northern Chicago spring break camps for a one-of-a-kind experience filled with obstacle courses, team challenges, fun hand-eye-coordination developing activities, and tons of other great activities. The camp is a break for you, and a blast for them!! Our 2023 Spring Break Camp is registered in by the half or full day, and is great for kids ages 6-14.

Leadership Summer Camp
Our 2023 summer camp is enrolled in by the week, and is great for 6-13+ year olds. Older kids get an opportunity (if desired) to develop their leadership skills, and the younger ones have a blast participating. Our Leadership Summer Camp, being a premiere Day Camp near Chicago, is different from other camps we offer during the year because it is a whole week experience, each day evolving from the last. Located in Arlington Heights and Libertyville, close to Palatine and Vernon Hills, these obstacle-course-based camps.

No School Day Camps
No School? No Problem! We offer full and half day camp options for most national holidays and some localized school closures. Have your child attend our No School Day Camp the next time their school is closed and you want to relax (or need to work ).

CAMP FACILITIES: Hi-Five groups campers in their own "Division" by age grouping. We then form teams from these divisions and assign each a college name and a team coach. Then campers spend the day doing what they love most... playing team sports. Almost everything within an air-conditioned environment. For parents, it is about keeping their children active, healthy, and happy; but for kids summer means no school, non-stop sports, and a lot of fun. LUNCHES ARE INCLUDED FOR ALL CAMPERS.

Play On Summer Comedy Camp is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and organized individual to join our summer camp team in Evanston Illinois. Intern should be available Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm. 

Responsibilities:
• Assist camp staff with campers in grades 2-8
• Oversee the counselor-in-training program
• Teach and/or assistant teach backstage electives
• Help with technical aspects of camp show
• Provide administrative support

Snow Goal Scoring Camps grants hard-working players the opportunity to learn proper shooting technique. Coach Jake was mentored by college soccers greatest all time scorer his uncle, the late Ken Snow. Coach Jake and his team break down every meaningful aspect of his nearly perfect shooting mechanics so players learn exactly how he is able to achieve an accurate high velocity shot.

Coach Jake offers unique solutions to players having difficulties achieving proper shooting form and provides ways for even the best shooters to improve. Coach Jake's encouraging and patient style of instruction helps players maximize their potential and develop more passion for soccer. With enough practice and instruction, shooting and scoring goals will become 2nd nature.

Camp Format:
4-6 players per goal with 20-25 balls for each group. Players shoot 20-25 shots for each exercise. We repeat each exercise for both feet. Practicing that shot over and over creates muscle memory so finishing the soccer ball becomes 2nd nature to players. We choose 5-6 different Shooting & Scoring scenarios and situations each day, so each player takes 10-12 (both Feet) shooting sets of 20 shots each. Hardworking players should expect to take around 200 shots per day.

Players Don't Get Enough Shooting in Practice:
Shooting practice is most often neglected because coaches are forced to spend the majority of team training sessions working on ball control, possession, and passing. If coaches spent the amount of time required to get good at shooting their teams would be unable to possess the ball well enough to produce good scoring opportunities so SHOOTING PRACTICE IS WHAT GETS LEFT OUT!

Every year talented players attend our camps and challenge each other to the limit, growing in skill and experience. We never leave campus so caregivers can drop off and pick up their campers whenever it is best for them within our hours of operation. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Ondessonk a residential youth camp provides summer camp programs for children ages 8-18 years old. We are proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association. This accreditation means that Camp Ondessonk thoroughly reviews operational practices, seeks the wisdom of other summer camp professionals, and continually makes improvements within our summer camp program to comply with more than 300 written standards. Only one-fourth of the summer camps in the United States have earned this mark of distinction. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: It is the mission of YMCA Camp Benson to provide a safe, fun, transformational and educational experiences for our campers through the demonstration of the four core values.; caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and by practicing a camper first philosophy. Sending a child to camp is an act of great faith by parents. As directors, we take that responsibility very seriously. ADVENTURE camp is our most popular camp. This is a 7 day overnight camp with every activity to chose from based on your age. ADVENTURE CAMP is for those who are ages 8 -14. Your camper will take their summer to new heights. From zip-lining, swimming, and climbing to exploring a cave, high ropes, archery, and campfires. ADVENTURE camp is everything you need for one amazing week of camp.

EXPLORER camp is our starter camp. This is your 4 day overnight camp with fun activities to chose from based on your campers age. Explorer CAMP is for those who have completed kindergarten through 8 years old. Never been to YCB before or still in their first couple of summers at camp? Then EXPLORER camp is just for them. It's one week of camp packed into 4 days. With skits, big games, campfires, songs, and more, your camper is sure to have a great time.

SPECIALTY camps are the camps that have a certain niche to them They include; MEGA camp, TEEN camp, and LITERARY camp. MEGA camp is more than twice the fun! This 14 day camp gives campers the chance to try more activities, participate in the special middle-weekend stay-over, and get to know their counselors and fellow MEGA-campers much better If you are ages 8-14, register early for this one. It will fill quickly. TEEN camp is the one that no camper ages 12-17 wants to miss.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Simply put, an SDP (staff development participant) is a student entering the 9th-12th grade in the fall of 2014. While often this age group is overlooked and underutilized, this is not true at YMCA Camp Benson. SDPs attend Camp Benson for a week at a time serving and learning, growing and expanding, in both leadership and character. There are 4-levels of the Staff Development Program and placement is based on their grade in school, their attendance at weekend retreats, and an application process.

Our confidential Financial Assistance Program allows numerous children, who would otherwise not be able to attend, to experience all that YMCA Camp Benson has to offer.

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers utilize four main rustic living units – Rustling Oaks, Setting Sun, White Cloud, and Shining Star – that provide platform tents and unit houses. These unit houses have electricity, indoor bathrooms, hot water, and kitchen facilities.

Setting Sun, Rustling Oaks, White Cloud and Shining Star units are available for camping. Each unit with the exception of Rustling Oaks, has a unit house and platform tents. Rustling Oaks contains a unit house only. The unit houses are all equipped with indoor flush toilets (White Cloud has composting toilets), full kitchen with cooking equipment, fireplaces, electricity, tables, chairs and mattresses (no cots), and electric heat. The platform tents are available April 15 through October 15 and house 3-4 people per tent with cots and mattresses. Each unit has a fire circle and comes with standard basic outdoor cooking equipment.

Setting Sun sleeps 20 indoors and 26 outdoors in platform tents.
Rustling Oaks sleeps 16 indoors and has a shower.
Shining Star sleeps 24 indoors and 35 outdoors in platform tents.
White Cloud sleeps 24 indoors and 35 outdoors in platform tents.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Your group can experience many activities while staying at Camp Tapawingo including team building on our high and low ropes courses, test your aim on our archery range or take a relaxing ride through the property on horseback. A small paddling lake can be explored in a canoe. If exploring on your own, hiking trails wind throughout the property. These activities are dependent on trained staff and/or volunteer availability.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We have both CIT and LIT programs as well as Leadership Camps and camp assistants.

If you love working with younger campers and hanging out with older Girl Scouts at camp, you’ll love this two-week session! You’ll spend the first week improving your camping and leadership skills and observing the counselors in action as you begin the sisterhood journey. The second week you’ll be paired with a unit to lead daily camp activities. As a CIT, you’ll have plenty of time to stay up late making midnight grilled cheese and playing goofy games.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Our summer activities are open to all girls, including non-Girl Scouts. Any girl entering first grade through twelfth grade is welcome at camp. The GSCI summer camp experience is available in many forms: resident camp; day camp; family events; and core camping, where troops stay at camp and camp staff run activities.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have horses for every level of rider; saddles and bridles are provided. We have an indoor arena 60'x180' and 2 outdoor arenas, an indoor washracks, grooming stalls and tack rooms. We also have an air conditioned room where we eat lunch and watch horse films.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The camp was created in 2001 by our USHJA Certified head trainer, who manages the camp. We want to bring equestrian sports to everyone, even if just for one week. A connection with horses can do wonders for the soul.

Huntermark Summer Horse Camp is looking for responsible, hard-working people with horse experience to help working with kids and horses in their top notch summer riding camp.

CAMP FACILITIES: Classes and camps are taught in two spaces; our Gym is a 3,000 sq/ft gymnasium space that features a 1,600 sq/ft sprung floor, and a fully rigged 24 foot ceiling. Our Studio is a 900 sq/ft classroom space that features a floating sprung White Oak dance floor, a fully rigged 14 foot ceiling, a handstand wall, conditioning ladders, and room length 12 foot mirrors for aerial work.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp is directed by Sylvia Hernandez-DiStasi. Sylvia, recently returned from a successful tour of Lookingglass Alice, is a second generation circus performer who grew up touring with various circuses, including Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus. She also performed at The Circus World Championships in London, England. In 1990 she moved to Chicago and began her career as a circus teacher and choreographer. Sylvia is a co-founder of The Actors Gymnasium and an Artistic Associate of The Lookingglass Theatre Company. Other theater credits include The Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Chicago Children’s Theater, Marriott Theater, and The Steppenwolf Theatre, among others. She recently won the Illinois Theatre Association’s Award of Honor, the 3Arts award for design, and she has been nominated for six Joseph Jefferson Awards for her choreography, winning five.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp delegates are assigned to live in cabins with other junior high students and one or two Junior Counselors. Delegates will not be housed with students from their home school. The cabins have bunk beds with foam rubber mattresses. Delegates must provide their own bedding. Delegate cabins are located in close proximity to the Senior Staff and the Camp Nurse.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: >During the week of camp, each delegate is assigned to a mock Student Council of 15-20 students. In order for the delegates to meet students from other schools, each delegate is placed in a council with students from schools other thatn his/her home school. Each mock Student Council elects officers, establishes committees and has camp responsibilities to complete. Councils meet at least once during each day with a member of the Senior Staff and 2 or 3 Junior Counselors.

General Sessions are held each day for all camp delegates. These are learning sessions presented by members of the Senior staff and include such topics as job training, brainstorming, and much more. In addition, the Senior Staff presents information about planning agendas, project plannng, parlimentary procedure, and evaluation during the council meetings.

Recreation is held at least once a day. Delegates can go swimming, boating, shoot archery, play volleybal, or make crafts. The camp store is open at this time so delegates may purchase snacks.

The evening acivities include special events: a square dance, a picnic and junior olympics, and a dance. The final evening activity of the week is a banquet followed by Achievement Night which inlcudes a candle lighting ceremony. Each day ends with time to reflect and sing around the campfire.

Camp Staff
The Senior Staff is made up of teachers who are student council advisors in their home schools. In addition to the camp Director, and Senior staff, there is a staff nurse. The Junior Counselors (JC's) are high school students who attended IAJHSC Leadership Camp as junior high/middle school students. They are also involved in leadership experiences in high school. The Junior Counselors are a carefullly selected group of higly capable, responsible, and enthusiastic individuals.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Beginner coding skills are taught helping children learn sequencing and terms that grown up coders use everyday to create video games and more. Math and Science activities engage your child in learning and our ARTS program helps students understand how computer artists work in the field.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: This program can also be delivered through our TUTORING service by appointment during the summer.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Having a solid foundation of knowledge on how to work safely around horses is just as important as knowing how to ride them. Our summer program gives campers a fun, safe, hands-on opportunity to learn and engage in all facets of basic horsemanship. Throughout the week campers will participate in activities that expand their knowledge of horses, advance their horseback riding skills, and enjoy riding with friends.

Our goal is for each of our campers to become a solid horseman, utilizing proper barn, horse handling, and riding skills. Please send a daily sack lunch and drink with your child.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Father/Son Camp Options

Parents, you are welcome to attend either the Kids Training Camp or the Future Champions Camp with your son. This is a unique opportunity to learn and bond together in a world class wrestling environment that also stresses fun, fitness, and fundamentals. We encourage you to attend sessions, take notes, video tape the instructional presentations, and/or assist your son. Many of its art-major students have now gone on to renowned art colleges and most prestigious majors such as CalArt’s Character Animation, ArtCenter’s Entertainment Design and Rhode Island School of Design. Some art-major students from early years have found employments in high-tech companies such as Google, Facebook and Netflix. Similarly, its non-art-major students have been accepted by nation’s top universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Princeton and MIT with the help of submission of a strong supplemental art portfolio. The team is also responsible for helping non-art-major students develop robust supplemental art portfolios for applying top private universities.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We partner with Youth Art Foundation, a non-profit organization to help our students develop leadership and utilize their art talents and skills to make positive contributions to their communities.

CAMP FACILITIES: This camp has two campuses located in Winnetka, IL and Highland Park, IL., from these drop-off and pick-up locations we visit a wide variety of destinations around the Chicagoland area to offer children every opportunity for fun. From swimming, to science classes, farms, museums and even amusement parks we have something that every child will enjoy.

OTHER CAMP INFO: The founders, owners, and operators of Oasis Summer Day Camp are husband and wife James and Brooke Schamber. For many years, both have directed summer camps along the North Shore; now they bring the best of these experiences to another great summer at Oasis. With their vision, talent, and the help of a highly skilled staff, they have created a fun-filled family-like atmosphere that promotes curiosity, creativity, and sportsmanship.

Brooke and James have an extensive background in child and family services. Through her training and work as a school psychologist, Brooke is skilled in child and adolescent development, education, and family models. James is a beloved teacher and athletic coach who has a graduate degree in curriculum and instruction, and has also enjoyed instructing classes for students with exceptional talents at Northwestern University.

Both have had great success dedicating their time to enriching children’s lives and are committed to exceeding your highest expectations. They are thrilled to invite you and your child to become a member of the Oasis family. They are confident this will be a fantastic summer where friendships are cultivated that provide memories to last a lifetime!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our summer 4-week classes develop physical health, confidence, and creativity while teaching proper dance technique.

The curriculum incorporates the Angelina Ballerina book "Angelina's Perfect Party," promoting reading and literacy.

Also included are lessons in nutrition, creating a strong healthy body, educational activity sheets, and craft projects to foster excitement among young dancers.
