CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: While we only ask parents for 10% of the cost, for a camper to attend a program, we offer partial or full camperships for families who may not be able to afford the tuition for a program.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): We have a Brain Tumor Family Camp that is specifically designed for families with a child with a Brain Tumor diagnosis, and/or a Brain Tumor Survivor.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: With the YMCA, everyone can afford to keep their kids healthy and safe this summer!

Scholarships are available for those needing help to pay for camp through Action for Children. If you qualify, Action for Children assistance can be applied for all weeks of summer camp. Applications for assistance through Action for Children may be picked up at the Member Service Desk. Action For Children is state provided assistance. You do not have to be a YMCA member to qualify.

If you do not qualify or were denied funds through Action for Children, you may apply for funds through the Lake View YMCA. Lake View has scholarships available through our Annual Campaign, which is supported by donations and gifts from staff, members and the community. YMCA Scholarship forms are available at the Member Services Desk. Assistance is based on annual income, family size and supported documentation.

A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit per week is required to hold your child's spot in camp, even if you have applied for Action for Children or a YMCA Scholarship. SUMMER CAMP JOBS:

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We only accept serious players with previous competitive soccer experience. Every year talented players attend our camps and challenge each other to the limit, growing in skill and experience. A number of our campers have experienced training trials with professional clubs in Holland. Our programs are designed to help players achieve their maximum potential through progressive exercises that are individually challenging, as well as appropriate to the age and ability of each player.

We fly in our coaches directly from the Netherlands. They are not merely coaches: they are also teachers. Many of our coaches have graduated from a four- year CIOS College. At the Central Institution of Sports, coaches not only received their coaching licenses from the global leader in soccer development: KNVB (Royal Dutch Soccer Federation) but also learn how to work with, encourage and incentivize young athletes. Every camp group will have the same Dutch coach for the entire week. Our coaches will get to know each of the players in their group and can coach them individually, assessing their needs and improving the specific areas best for them.

ADVENTURE camp is everything you need for one amazing week of camp.

EXPLORER camp is our starter camp. This is your 4 day overnight camp with fun activities to chose from based on your campers age. Explorer CAMP is for those who have completed kindergarten through 8 years old. Never been to YCB before or still in their first couple of summers at camp? Then EXPLORER camp is just for them. It's one week of camp packed into 4 days. With skits, big games, campfires, songs, and more, your camper is sure to have a great time.

SPECIALTY camps are the camps that have a certain niche to them They include; MEGA camp, TEEN camp, and LITERARY camp. MEGA camp is more than twice the fun! This 14 day camp gives campers the chance to try more activities, participate in the special middle-weekend stay-over, and get to know their counselors and fellow MEGA-campers much better If you are ages 8-14, register early for this one. It will fill quickly. TEEN camp is the one that no camper ages 12-17 wants to miss.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Simply put, an SDP (staff development participant) is a student entering the 9th-12th grade in the fall of 2014. While often this age group is overlooked and underutilized, this is not true at YMCA Camp Benson. SDPs attend Camp Benson for a week at a time serving and learning, growing and expanding, in both leadership and character. There are 4-levels of the Staff Development Program and placement is based on their grade in school, their attendance at weekend retreats, and an application process.

Brain Chase is a 6-week summer learning challenge disguised as a massive global treasure hunt for 2nd−8th graders. CAMP FACILITIES: JCYS Camp Henry Horner accommodations range from small lodges with kitchen facilities to large dorm-style housing that can accommodate over 100 people at a time. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Good Times offers a special program to certain campers over the age of 12. This program helps transition eager teen campers into responsible working adults. Gophers are assistants to their assigned counselors and in no way have responsibility over any camper. A few veteran Gophers will show extraordinary qualities and will be allowed to become camp interns. Many of Good Times best counselors were at one time campers themselves. How does a camper become a Gopher? The Gopher program is by invitation only. If selected, you will receive an invitation early in January from Director Peggy. For example, all Skyhawks Sports camps start and end with our unique safety process called "Gate System and Parking Lot Duty." This process is where coaches come and greet both parents and campers in the parking lot when parents pull up to drop off their children.

Our staff guide the kids onto the field/court and out of harm's way by funneling them into our gate system. Snow Goal Scoring Camps grants hard-working players the opportunity to learn proper shooting technique. Coach Jake was mentored by college soccers greatest all time scorer his uncle, the late Ken Snow. Coach Jake and his team break down every meaningful aspect of his nearly perfect shooting mechanics so players learn exactly how he is able to achieve an accurate high velocity shot.

Coach Jake offers unique solutions to players having difficulties achieving proper shooting form and provides ways for even the best shooters to improve. Coach Jake's encouraging and patient style of instruction helps players maximize their potential and develop more passion for soccer. With enough practice and instruction, shooting and scoring goals will become 2nd nature.

Camp Format:
4-6 players per goal with 20-25 balls for each group. Players shoot 20-25 shots for each exercise. We repeat each exercise for both feet. Practicing that shot over and over creates muscle memory so finishing the soccer ball becomes 2nd nature to players. We choose 5-6 different Shooting & Scoring scenarios and situations each day, so each player takes 10-12 (both Feet) shooting sets of 20 shots each. Hardworking players should expect to take around 200 shots per day.

Players Don't Get Enough Shooting in Practice:
Shooting practice is most often neglected because coaches are forced to spend the majority of team training sessions working on ball control, possession, and passing. If coaches spent the amount of time required to get good at shooting their teams would be unable to possess the ball well enough to produce good scoring opportunities so SHOOTING PRACTICE IS WHAT GETS LEFT OUT!

Video sensing allows students to design and program their own video games and then test them by interacting with the program via webcam. In this Scratch program, students work together to create their own games, art and musical instruments while exploring coding foundations.
