Why camp STEM?

camp STEM provides offerings that are carefully designed to provide hands -on impact in influencing children’s attitude toward science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Kids want to have fun in the summer. We have integrated science and math with many fun and inspiring activities. Our approach allows children to investigate a STEM project while learning the underlying scientific concepts that keep them engaged.

We break the monotony of doing STEM projects all day.

What ages are the camps designed for?
Our camps are designed for rising kindergartners to sixth graders.

Are different aged children in the same camp?
Our camps are divided by grade. Camps are divided by grade K-2, 3-4, and 5-6.

Who are the camp STEM instructors?
camp STEM instructors are certified teachers on summer break. All of our instructors have experience working with elementary-aged children, and receive camp STEM specific training. The main characteristic of our instructors is that they all share a love of STEM to spark campers’ imaginations.

How do I register my child for a camp?
Depending on the location of the camp, you can register by mail, over the phone, in person, or online. On occasion, we provide on site registration assistance to our partner-hosted camps.

Note: Registration requirements, start dates, end dates, and minimum camp size may vary by location. Transportation to and the from the camp is not included.

How soon do I need to register to reserve a space for my child?
Some camps and dates fill very quickly, while some may have spaces available up to the start date. We recommend that you register as soon as possible.

What is your refund policy?
camp STEM (i.e. our online registration system, phone-in, mail), cancellations are accepted up to two weeks (14 business days) before camp starts. A 50% fee ($75.00) will apply if cancellation is not tendered beforehand.

Can I sign my child up for more than one camp?
Yes, in fact, we totally encourage it. Each camp STEM offered is completely different so your child can enjoy them all without repeating similar activities.

What is the fee for camp STEM?
All fees are $150.00. The fee covers daily snacks, lunches, and all field trips. Transportation to and from the camp is not included.

When is camp STEM offered?
camp STEM is offered every week in June to accommodate busy summer schedule’s.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Volunteer as a camp STEM helper or chaperone. camp STEM welcomes families of all campers, retirees, college students, high school juniors and seniors, and community partners who support STEM. You can volunteer as a chaperone on weekly field trips or a helper at the weekly camp. You can also assist with coordinating lunch, or providing supplies and other assistance to classrooms.

In June of 2006 we moved the camp from its original location in Knoxville to its new permanent home, one-hour west, on 150 beautifully wooded acres in Crossville, Tennessee. Camp Counselor positions are for individuals ages 18-25 yrs. old who love to work with children. We look for counselors with high energy, enthusiasm and a desire to make camp an unforgettable experience, while ensuring camper safety. A hard-working demeanor and willing attitude to jump into any camp activity are a must. Counselors get to enjoy staying in a cabin with 10-16 campers throughout the week. A weekly paycheck along with the benefit of room and board are provided by Flip Fest. Although this is a gymnastics camp, non-gymnasts are welcome to apply for counseling positions. Previous work with children is not required, but looked highly upon. There are 4 blocks (each 3 weeks long) of counseling positions available. Weekend Camp Counselor:
Weekend Counselor positions are for individuals 18-25 years old who love to work with children. We look for counselors with high energy, enthusiasm and a desire to make camp an unforgettable experience, while ensuring camper safety. Weekend Counselors get to enjoy staying in a cabin with campers that are staying for multiple sessions of camp, with the benefit of room and board provided by Flip Fest. Ropes Course Staff:
For individuals ages 18 and up interested in getting trained to take the campers through the ropes course in the pine forest. No previous experience in necessary, but a plus! CAMP FACILITIES: The Graceland Performing Arts Camp is for the entire family and hotel accommodations are at AAA-rated Four Diamond luxury resort The Guest House at Graceland, which includes outdoor pool and a theater.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The camp is an immersive theater arts and music experience for both experienced and novice performers. Graceland Performing Arts Camp participants will learn from local and Broadway professionals as they explore their creativity in workshops on acting, singing and dancing at the Graceland Soundstage and on stage at The Guest House at Graceland Theater. Over the four days of activities, campers will develop a showcase, culminating in an evening performance on stage at The Guest House Theater for family and friends on Saturday night.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Road Less Traveled as an organization was founded by Jim and Donna Stein in 1991, and has been successfully running safe, exciting, life-changing trips for teens ever since. Both Jim and Donna are still the current directors, and are integrally involved in every single aspect of the company. In the summer, they are on call 24/7, available both to parents as well as to our leaders in the field.

We are an ACA accredited organization with an impeccable track record. We believe in the process of accreditation. It allows us to compare our standards to other professionals in the industry. Our accreditation allows us to follow specific standards related to leader screening including use of application forms, reference checks, personal interviews, work history review, and background checks.

Many years ago, we were the first company serving young adults to require that all leaders have a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) medical certification. WFR training is far more advanced than standard first aid or wilderness first aid. In addition to this certification, we carry extensive first aid kits on all of our programs that include antibiotics and epinephrine. Contents, protocols, and standing orders are reviewed and updated every year by our Medical Director who is an MD.

Since our inception, RLT has been on the cutting edge of technological advances in communication. We began carrying Iridium satellite phones on all of our programs as soon as they were available. Today we continue to carry the latest in emergency communication systems. According to geographic location, programs are equipped with satellite phones, ground-to-air radios, and/or cellular phones providing the possibility of 24-hour access to medical help in case of emergency.

Travel domestically and/or internationally with a group of high-school and/or middle-school students, monitoring and facilitating community service, language/cultural immersion, and/or wilderness adventure trips

Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of 21 years of age
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree or in the process of completing a degree. Equivalent experience working with teenagers in related field will be considered if not currently enrolled in school
• Experience Previous program leader experience working with and or teaching young people age ranging in age between 12-19. Knowledge of and experience with group dynamics, teaching or facilitating groups, supervision of meal planning, food preparation and cooking, managing logistics. Ability to teach program specific skills, environmental awareness, and related scientific, cultural, and historical knowledge pertaining to the regions through which you will travel and their relationship to each other.

• For Adventure Programs: Knowledge of three or more wilderness travel methods. Whitewater rafting, sea kayaking, international trekking, biking, backpacking, technical rock or ice climbing and mountaineering. Mandatory requirements for adventure trips include: the ability to lead groups of students on backpacking trips of three to eight days, ability to comfortably lead through remote wilderness areas. CAMP FACILITIES: Riva-Lake has 10 cabins set along the bluff overlooking our cove and ravine, with some separation for the older campers. Bathhouses are on both areas of the camp. Our lake has a "sunken" swimming pool/dock, docks for sailing and canoeing and a water trampoline. The rustic playhouse has a stunning view of the lake and sunsets, and is home to our basketball court. Equestrian facilities, tennis courts and campfire areas are also on-site.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: CRL was established in 1921 as a premier riding camp, and quickly became a well-known all-around girls' camp in the South. Today, riding is one of many activities offered to our campers. Whether you are a 3rd/4th generation legacy camper or a new camper, you will quickly become part of a special sisterhood. The Act Too Players have created several weeklong camps and summer intensives to give your star the best theatrical experience in Middle Tennessee. Every student gets the opportunity to rehearse with the best directors, musical directors, and technical staff. Our goal is to instruct your child on the art of theatre while providing a fun, safe, environment.

We have 2 different types of camps. Our weeklong camps meet from 9am to 3pm from Monday to Friday with a showcase on Friday's. There are several different weeklong camps to choose from including dance camp, one week play, one week musical, Best of Modern Broadway camps, and a camp for ages 3-6 years.

Our other camp is the Summer Intensive where we meet twice a week from 4-7pm and work on mounting a complete production of either Pippin or Seussical the Musical. We will audition, create, and perform a fully mounted production of these shows at the Franklin Theatre.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Our program is grounded in the belief that theatre skills are worthwhile, valuable life skills. OTHER CAMP INFO: Our weeklong summer camps meet each day from 9:00am until 3:00pm. In camp each day, your child can expect to learn the fundamentals of theatre in a safe and fun environment It is our hope that each week a student learns more than a show or some dance moves but learns a little bit about themselves and how to successfully work with others. Act Too Players will provide a snack and drink during the morning. Lunch will be each day around noon (provided by student). During the lunch hour we will show your child movies that are related to the course. Act Too Players will also provide materials for the classes.

Crazy Crafts: 6-10
This camp is centralized on the exploration of a wide variety of art mediums - you won’t find a camp more freeing and intuitive than this one! We will explore what abstract art means through dripping art intentionally like Jackson Pollock, or losing ourselves in the swirling colors of a fluid paint pour project. We will talk about composition and color theory, then put our new knowledge to the test by creating mixed media sculptures. This camp is full of sensory assignments for students who love getting messy and free with art.

Around the World In 4 Days 6-10
From Australian dot paintings to Chinese fans, we will travel around the world learning about cultures and how they express their creativity. Track your exploration in your art journal as you explore history and culture through art. Discover animals, music and old-time stories that have shaped the arts and crafts of different corners of our world.

Join the Circus!: 6-10
Join us to create some exciting and colorful art projects that are inspired by the big top! From 3D sculptures to textured, colorful paintings, kids will get to experience everything circus without having to do any tightrope walking. This may be the most exciting summer camp yet so don’t wait to sign –up!

Young Artists Studio: 6-10
A great characteristic of an excellent artist is being well rounded in the knowledge of different mediums. In Young Artists Studio we will explore these various mediums including painting, sculpture, and mixed media to create beautiful works of art. At the end of the week we will display the works of our budding artists in classic gallery style for friends and family to admire.

Storyteller's Camp: 11-16
In this camp, we will be diving deep into our creative imagination to tell a story through pictures. We will be creating characters that come alive through story and visual depictions of their surroundings. Students will create their heroes’ story by answering questions about each hero’s strengths and weaknesses, their friends and nemeses, and ultimately, their life’s greatest quest. Through drawing lessons, storyboarding, scenery design and watercolor paintings, we will have a character and their story come alive before our eyes like a movie.

Impressionists on the Move: 11-16
This summer camp will consist of delightfully colorful projects with inspiration from many Impressionist greats including Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir, Cezanne and more. Students will also be ready to create on the move with their personally decorated pochade paint boxes, just like true plein air impressionist painters. We’ll learn how to use them by painting subjects outdoors “en plein air”. All the projects they take home from this camp will be colorful keepsakes.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Southern Girls Rock and Roll Camp (SGRRC) is a summer day camp for girls ages 10-17. SGRRC's provides a conservatory style learning atmosphere in which students are immersed for one week in the art form of music and for 11 years has provided unique music programming that is accessible and engaging for young people because of its emphasis on popular music. Students participate in instrument instruction (guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals, etc.), music industry workshops (songwriting, recording technology, photography, etc.), ensemble practice and guest artist performances.

As the primary program of the camp, students form a band and learn in an ensemble setting using popular music to build music fundamentals. Students are taught how to play instruments, work together in a band, write original songs and market their bands. At the end of the camp, the students have the opportunity to perform what they have learned during a showcase for their peers and community members.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our property is made up of beautiful open fields surrounded by deep rich forest. The woods provide a wonderful playground for trail rides, our team-building challenge course, paintball, and more. There are several trickling streams and an Old Fashioned Swimmin’ Hole located on our 130-acre property that sits parallel to the Nolichucky River.

We have four air conditioned and heated, log-siding bunkhouses that accommodate over 100 guests with wooden bunks and comfortable mattresses to rest your head. All cabins have private indoor bathroom facilities.

We are looking for college age students to work during the summer as Camp Counselors, Barn Staff, Activity Staff, and Tech Staff.

CAMP FACILITIES: High Point Climbing & Fitness Birmingham is Alabama's largest indoor climbing facility. It features 25,000 square feet of indoor climbing with walls of multiple difficulties and heights up to 55 feet tall. The facility also has a kids' zone climbing area, weight room, and yoga studio.

1) Youth Academy - Designed for boys and girls ages 6-10. Fun, exciting and engaging activities are all part of the week. We do this with individual and small group activities with the introduction of fun technical exercises and games that are engaging and pertinent for the age group and ability level. With our unique curriculum youth players will be exposed to the proper technique such as shooting, dribbling, 1v1, crossing and much more.

2) Junior Academy - Designed for boys & girls, goalkeepers and field players ages 10-13. The program has been designed to build a foundation that will help the participant’s progress to the next level. This will be accomplished in a fun, entertaining and positive environment. Each session will be progressive in nature and will conclude with a relative small-sided game that will highlight the topic of the session. Competitive tournaments will be played throughout the week, and be the highlight of our evening sessions.

3) Senior Academy - Designed for High School players, including incoming freshmen, who are ready to play and be trained at the next level. . Throughout the week, players will be put in a competitive environment that will bring out their very best. Players will be exposed to the four dimensions of training, Physical, Technical, Tactical and Psychological. In our unique evening competitions, players will have the opportunity to compete against other teams, other players and themselves.

4) College Prep Academy - Our goal is to provide an incredible environment where serious soccer players will be exposed to the highest level of instruction in anticipation of playing at the highest level possible. High Performance Seminars will be led by trusted experts in their field and will include: Sports Nutrition, Soccer Specific Conditioning, ACT/SAT Preparation and Sport Psychology. Goalkeepers and field players will be exposed to an intensive training environment for those who are serious about fulfilling their potential.

5) College Showcase Camps - Now available for the serious soccer player at select No.1 Soccer Camp sites throughout the country. The directors of our College ID Showcase Camps are all currently active college coaches. In addition, the College Showcase ID Camps allow you to be seen by, and to work directly with college coaches and their assistants from programs all over the US. The philosophy of the College Showcase ID Camps is to provide you with a more intimate environment from which to experience what College coaches expect from their players.

CAMP FACILITIES: The large pool offers 2 slides, as well a a platform diving board. A covered Pavilion, complete with a ping pong table and benches, is nestled in the corner. Our pool house offers 2 changing areas, 1 for the guys and 1 for the gals. It also has 2 bathrooms, 1 for the guys and 1 for the gals. We have a lake w/ boats. We have ziplines.
